Materials
- 2 pcs 24″ x 24″ 3/4 Plywood
- 12 pcs 2″ NON-SWIVEL Casters
- 48 pcs #10 x 3/4″ sheet metal screws
Tools
- 1 1/4″ Hole Saw
- Jigsaw with Wood blade
Mark two 24″ diameter circles on the 3/4″ plywood and mark the centers. Cut them out using the jigsaw (use appropriate protection).
Using a sharpie, divide one circle into 6 equal segments (this is a simple geometric exercise). Starting at the center, draw lines from the center out to the rim (it should look like a pizza cut into 6 slices). Now draw concentric circles with diameters of 23″ and 18″.
At each intersection of the 6 lines and the 23 inch circle, screw down a caster so that its lined up with the circle. The axle of the caster should run along the line you drew from the center to the edge. Repeat this using the 18″ circle, but this time put the casters in between the 6 lines. This should result in a staggered arrangement of the casters all the way around the chunk of plywood.
Drill a 1 1/4″ hole at the center of each board. Place the board with the casters onto weather stripping that’s on the sinking base (with the casters facing up). The 1″ Nipple will go through the hole you just drilled. Now place the other board on top of the casters.
